Winner of the Disc Golf Giveaway!
Discs be sailin’ through the air with this one

Go down throwing!
This is an off-schedule post but running a disc golf giveaway wasn’t the norm around here anyway.
This giveaway has taught me a few things.
It’s good to try new things, and it’s hard to try new things.
When I bought the discs for this giveaway, I had the idea to use a specific website to run everything and count entries for me. Turns out, all the giveaway features I was hoping to use were more expensive than I was ready to invest. Honestly the size of Fightin’ Poseidon doesn’t justify those kind of sunk costs. (That’s another reason the audio newsletters went away - the feature did for my account level) It was harder and more cumbersome to use Google Forms and Sheets, but I was still able to accomplish it. Even better, these limitations led me to a non-digital solution. The data collection was digital, thanks Google, but the drawing was not. This helped me to be more connected and present in the whole process. Which brings me to another lesson.
I found I like doing content videos.
This could be a good and a bad thing. It could cause me to attempt being more present with those I’m not actually present with, and absent with those who I’m physically closest to. Not necessarily a good thing. That’s an interesting lesson because I’ve also been thinking about how it’s becoming easier to articulate myself and talk about ideas here on Fightin’ Poseidon than it is to verbally work them out in person. That’s a limitation and weakness, big time. Maybe it’s just unhurried time is available in newsletters. Who knows. I have liked talking with y’all on stories and reels. I do my best off the cuff with bare bullet points than if I try to memorize anything. Also, I started this writing journey of mine on X, and have grown the newsletter the most through friends on Facebook, but it seems like Instagram is where content has had the most traction. Interesting.
That all being said, today I’m officially on Christmas break from work so I’m going to be cutting back on what I’ve been posting in an attempt to slow down some time and be more present. That’s really what this whole giveaway was about anyway, being present and making memories with those you love.
The Art of Manliness posted an article a few years ago about how time speeds up when we cease to make new memories and only operate in the same rut routines. When we quit learning, quit trying, quit experiencing, quit being present, quit resisting the current, quit building, quit failing, quit excelling and quit worrying about if we look stupid, time moves rapidly and our memory checks out. I’ll drop that link here → Be a Time Wizard ← and then get to the point.
So, if you missed the Instagram story where I posted the drawing, I took every entry, wrote their name on a tiny slip of paper, put it in a souvenir bag I got when I visited the Gateway Arch in St.Louis earlier this year, and drew it out. I had my friend Kellan there to hold the camera.
And the name I drew was… Aaron Flynn.

Congratulations!
So, congratulations Aaron. You’re the proud winner of two Chemtrails and two Bleaks from Doomsday Discs. That’ll get you started on your disc golf journey and allow you to bring someone along with you.
Thank you everyone who joined Fightin’ Poseidon during this giveaway. Even if I didn’t pull your name, you can still get 10% off an order from doomsdaydiscs.com with the discount code fightinposeidon. From what I’ve seen, not only does Doomsday have some unique discs, but they’re also one of the most reasonably priced disc companies on the market. Shipping is inexpensive, too. That discount code doesn’t expire, so you can use it whenever and how many times you want. Glow-in-the-dark Chemtrails are also sick looking. This giveaway also was for a driver and a putter, and it didn’t include a midrange. If you’re looking at adding a midrange to your game, I was just gifted a Flat Earth which sails wonderfully. When I got the giveaway discs, I also bought a Desolation in biohazard plastic for my self and I’ve been loving it. The Despair is a good all-purpose disc that flies similar to the very popular Discraft Buzzz. Any of these three would be a good addition to your bag that’ll help build your accuracy, whether it’s through tight wooded courses or just making approach shots to line up your putts, if you don’t have a midrange yet.
Why did I choose Doomsday Discs, especially when that seems like the antithesis of the theme I’m going for here on Fightin’ Poseidon? The barrier for entry to Team Doomsday was pretty low and I was able to commit to that, plus I really liked their jerseys and wanted something comfortable to wear while playing disc golf. I have a hat from The Reformed Sage that says Christ or Chaos on it. Whether there’s an AI uprising, chemtrails in the sky, bleak outlooks around us, weapons of mass destruction in the news, apocalypses on the prophetic horizons, psyops in the media, or frags in the trenches, it’s still Christ or chaos.
For God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but one of power, love, and sound judgment.
We don’t have to fear. In fact, we can be fearless.
So, in a small way, fight fear by going out and throwing some plastic discs not as far as you wish you could and hit more trees than straight lines to the basket. You may not be as good at it as you wish you were, but fighting against the fear of looking dumb or being inadequate is good for us.
It’s just a game. Have fun. Be a light.
Stay Anchored and keep fighting the good fight,
